Getting started

Install Agents Keeper, open it once, and answer the two questions macOS asks. You don't need an account.

Install

  1. Open the .dmg you downloaded and drag Agents Keeper into Applications.
  2. Open it from Applications. It's signed and notarized by Apple, so macOS opens it without a warning.
  3. Eject the disk image. You can delete the .dmg file.

You need a Mac with Apple silicon (M1 or later), and Claude Code or Codex. Either one is enough.

Updating? Download the new .dmg and drag Agents Keeper into Applications again, then choose Replace to swap out the old version. Your sessions and settings are kept.

First launch

Agents Keeper looks for the Claude Code and Codex sessions already on your Mac and shows how many it found. It reads them; it doesn't change them. Then it asks which projects to keep in the sidebar, and whether you want notifications.

It also installs a small background helper, Agents Keeper Service, inside its own folder. The helper keeps your agents running when the app is closed. You'll see it once in System Settings → General → Login Items.

Nothing is written outside Agents Keeper's own folder without your consent. If something needs to change elsewhere, such as a shell hook, you see it first and choose.

What macOS asks, and why

“Agents Keeper Service” would like to access files in your Desktop folder (or Documents, or Downloads)
Asked the first time an agent works in a project inside that folder. Your agents run inside the helper, so they need the helper to have access to read and edit the project.
Choose Allow. If you chose Don't Allow, agents can't open projects in that folder. Turn it back on in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Files and Folders → Agents Keeper Service.
“Agents Keeper” would like to send you notifications
So it can tell you when an agent needs you or finishes. It notifies once, when something changes, never on a loop.
Optional. Change it later in System Settings → Notifications → Agents Keeper.
